Richard V Clarke, NZ

Richard races a DOT/Villiers 8E
moving to Villiers 9E / 210 in 2003
Exhaust made from a million pieces, well, lots anyway.
Richard has devised two methods for developing the shapes required for making conical bends, one using CAD and the other purely graphical, the pipe shown was made from 38 separate pieces of flat sheet, emerging as a triple expansion cone, followed by the belly & reflector cone, all shaped to fit around the frame of his 1955 Villiers DOT.

The price for a set of drawings showing the methods for you to use to make a pipe to your own design is USD 15, sent by Email or Fax or Snail-mail. You can contact Richard by Email if interested, or indeed by fax to New Zealand, 9817-5112

Fixing a broken crank ...

Not Villiers ... but fun

I wanted to build a trail bike with a large soft 4-stroke engine. First attempt was a DR400 Susuki chassis with SRX600 Yamaha engine. It had 36mm forks and twin shock rear
Not too good in truth, the frame broke when we jumped it, and the suspension was not up to the bumps.
Tore it to pieces one winter and threw lots of stuff away. Now it has a DR400 chassis with several bits added, like 43mm air forks and YZ400 monoshox rear end. It still uses the 600cc engine. Oil tank is now behind the rider to keep it cool, sand and mud can easily be washed off in the pits for quick servicing. We hoped to enter the UK Weston beach race 2003 but the chain broke in testng and smashed the crankcases. Now with a 550cc engine. Awaiting further testing and new fork springs.
